Characteristics

A massive Pala tour that leads to the Refugio Velo della Madonna on two paths without cable car support. From there you can add the Sentiero attrezata De Paoli, or you can descend straight to San Martino. There is a lot, a lot of nature and moderately difficult via ferratas.

Arrival

On the A22 to the Neumarkt / Auer exit. Continue on state road 48 to Predazzo and on state road 50 over the Passo di Rolle to San Martino di Castrozza. Park at the cable car. From the south on the SS 50 via Artèn.

Approach

From San Martino on path 702 and 721 in approx. 2 hours to Cadin Sora Ronz, 2050 m, under the southwestern crash of the Cima die Ball. Here the path to Via ferrata della Vecchia (also written Via ferrata della Vecia) branches off and in 2 minutes you are already among the first gorges (B).

Exit

From Rifugio Velo della Madonna you descend briefly on path 713 and after a few minutes you have to decide at Cadinot 2280m (board) if you want to continue on path 713 in 2 1/2 hours to San Martino or via Sentiero attrezata De Paoli descend to the southwest. This climb overcomes a short rock belt and takes a good 45 minutes longer if you take the cutter at 1760m on the right and guarantees loneliness. Ferrata begins at a red via ferrata board and leads down (A) to a short ladder (A). Then there are two short secured sections and we are back in hiking mode. Now either at approx. 1760m to the right and take the cutter to path 731 or follow the path 734 to Forc. Col. dei Cistri and here on paths 731 and later 724 back to San Martino.
