Characteristics

Bold Ferrata, which leads through the South terminations to the summit of Cima d'Auta. The via ferrata is unjustly rarely visited, but is very popular among the locals. The Ferrata has many pretty airy and steep passages and ends after a huge plate finale on a fantastic mountain! The mighty South Breaks of the Marmolada and the famous walls of the Civetta are just a few of the eye-catchers on the summit all-round view. After the scenic descent, a very rustic retreat awaits in the Baita dei Cacciatori.

Arrival

From the North: Take the A22 motorway to the Bolzano Nord exit and continue along the Karer Pass to Pozza di Fassa. There turn right, drive towards Predazzo and at Moèna turn left over the Passo San Pellegrino to Caviola. There on the north over a small road in the direction of spring, in front of the village left to the trail parking lot in Colmean. Caviola can also be reached from Cortina or Agordo via Cencenighe.

Approach

From the trail parking lot in Colmean on the way 689 - initially mostly on a cart path to the material ropeway of the Rifugio. Climb over the stream and to the Rifugio Baita dei Cacciatori or to the upstream Bivacco Giovanni Paolo. At the bivouac turn right (path Cima d'Auta) up to the tree line. In a ravine (marker) the road branches off to the left to the Ferrata. Steep up to the already visible from below the gully.

Exit

From the summit back (A/B) to the intersection with the "Via Normale". On the "Via Normale" descend into a small ridge and climb steeply (B) to the side summit. From this initially steeper (places A) on the platy back downwards. After a walk you will come to a ropes-covered section (A/B) and then back to the slopes, from where you will reach a meadow saddle (2377 m, sign posted Baita dei Cacciatori / Colmean).

a) Descend south on Sentiero attrezzato Attilio Bortoli - a grassy mini-ferrata (A/B) that leads through a ramp-like channel - until you reach the steep grassy slopes. On the trail, under the rocks again back to the ascent path cross - on this descend.

b) Or continue on your back in the Forc. dei Negher (beautiful view of the Lago di Franzei) and down to bivouac Bta. Col Mont. From there via the so-called Fontane (confluence of many streams) back to the Rif. Baita dei Cacciatori and on the ascent path to the valley (Var b is about app. ¾ hours longer).
