Characteristics
Beautiful hiking trail along the Kleine Krems (Little Křemže), around the Gudenushöhle cave. It is partially secured and leads around the Schusterlucke and Teufelskirche caves, which are definitely worth a visit.
Arrival
From Dürnstein to Weißenkirchen, turn right to Weinzierl and continue towards Albrechtsberg until you get to Maigen in the valley of Little Krems. Park right by the river (516 m).
Public transport: By train to Krems an der Donau and then by bus to Nöhagen.
Approach
From the car park to the red light around the private Hartenstein Castle and the Gudenushöhle cave on the other bank, which can be reached via a bridge. Then continue for another 1 km along the red until you reach a blue turn to the so-called Neuer Vettersteig, which is located on the left. At the ladder, first continue on to the Schusterlucke (A) and Teufelskirche (B) caves, then return to the ladder.
Exit
Descent along the so-called Alter Vettersteig through the Steinerne Saal (Stone Hall) and along the Eichmeier Caves back to the Malá Křemže valley.
Interesting facts
Caution is advised when wet. The descent path is temporarily closed due to rockfall. In this case either via Purkersdorf and the street, or (recommended) back via the Vettersteig.
