Characteristics
West of the famous winter sports area on the Feldberg is the town of Todtnau and on its eastern outskirts is the via ferrata of the same name. The ferrata is in the Todtnau climbing garden and has several variants of varying difficulty. On some parts climbing secure rope (thinner) is used. The via ferrata is good for slowly getting used to the different difficulty levels - there is a chimney and even an airy rope bridge. After the Ferrata trip, you should still visit the Todtnau waterfalls. The water masses fall over several steps almost 100 Hm into the depth and form a dreamlike ambience.
Arrival
On the B 31 to Titsee and there over the Feldberg to Todtnau. Before the village you can see the rocks on the southern slope. Park at the bus stop Poche (parking spaces on both sides of the road) - the parking spaces at Hotel Waldeck are reserved for guests.
By train/bus: By train to the Feldberg (Feldberg-Bärental) and by bus down to Todtna.
Approach
From the parking lot over the bridge to Hotel Waldeck (there is also a small bridge to the outdoor pool). Between the hotel and the outdoor pool the access path branches off to the left. Climb up this path to the rock with the information board. Then up on the path and at the top slietly to the left until the thin rope begins.
Descent
From the exit (highest point at the rope bridge) descend left through the forest back to the entrance (easiest descent). You can also descend steeply to the right part of the rocks (dangerous in wet conditions and unsuitable for people who are not sure-footed) and cross back to the right at the bottom (again secured with a thin rope).
