Characteristics

Tucked away in the shady beech forest on the western slopes of the Koralpe, a climbing trail about 250 meters long was built in the Eitweg climbing garden. The trail leads over seven rock formations and connects them with some bridges. You can break off the trail in many places and easily descend through the forest to the access road. The rock is bedrock that dries relatively quickly after rain.

The climb is well suited for beginners and families due to its length and exit possibilities. Children under 1,30 meters will have problems on the bridges.

When wet, the ascent of the almost entirely in the forest area via ferrata is not recommended. In summer it is pleasantly cool on the climbing tour.

Arrival

A2 highway until exit Wolfsberg Süd. Go straight on at the first and second roundabout and continue on the Gemmersdorfer Landesstraße until you reach Eitweg. In Eitweg to the left up to the forest (signposting climbing garden) and to the parking lot (for about 5 cars).

By public transport: By train to St. Andrä in Lavanttal and by bus to Eitweg Bartl Toman (drives only on school days).

Approach

From the car park on a path south into the forest until you meet the first signs to the sectors. The entrance of the via ferrata is at the bottom right and also very well signposted.

Exit

From the exit (descent board in front of Mt. Vinson), a steep path leads down to the access road, which leads to the parking lot on the right.
