Characteristics

The Sentiero attrezzato Pian de Siela is a short rock step secured with steel cables, which is either used as the fastest descent from the Pößneck via ferrata (Piz Miara) or simply as an ascent to Piz Miara. It is one of the lightest "ferratas" that lead to the Sella plateau. From Piz Miara you can add two more peaks when you descend. The Sentiero attrezzato Pian de Siela also offers itself as a light, conditional but demanding alternative to the Pößneck via ferrata.

Arrival

The easiest way is the Brenner motorway to Klausen, past Selva Gardena and the Sellajoch (Sellapass). From there drive down towards Canazei and park a little above the Rifugio Monti Pallidi.

Public transport: there is also a bus station at the Rifugio Monti Pallidi.

Approach

Follow path no. 647 into the Val Lasties. Where the valley becomes flat again, there is a prominent boulder on a flat meadow. There you branch off to the left and follow the marked path up to the rubble dump. In the rubble up to a reddish pillar, where the steel cables begin at a board.

Exit

From the end of via ferrata (board) up to the notch below Piz Miara and on its 2964 m high summit. Back to the notch and on a clear path to the summits of Piz Beguz (2974 m) and Piz Rotic (2973 m) - but you can also continue straight on the path 649 from the notch. Descend from Piz Rotic again on path 649 and follow this to the junction to path 647 (from there you can just go on to Rif. Boe - additional effort approx. 20 minutes). Right on path 647 down into the Val Lasties and down on the well-known approach path back to the parking lot.

The fastest way to descend is via the ascent path.
