Characteristics

Simple ferrata secured by a rope. There are dangerous snowfields early in the spring. There is no way to take a rope. Half of May is probably a better time. On the top of Schafberg since about 10th May (season is changing) there are 2 restaurants with views on 4 large lakes. One of the restaurant - the smaller one - is famous:)

Arrival

Motorway exit Mondsee towards St. Wolfgang car park in the city center

Approach

From the parking lot on the Austrasse road, to the Vormauerstein trail and to the Monichsee from where the Purtschellersteig ferrata begins - then continue up on the Schafbergweg to the top

Exit

Down the Schafbergweg towards the train railway station or on the same road back to the little town. Or use a railway from the top to the small town
