Characteristics

Training via ferrata to most popular hill near Ljubljana - Šmarna gora. It was made in 1928 and named after a doctor from Ljubljana, dr. Josip Pogačnik. When there is still snow in high mountains, this short and steep via ferrata is very suitable for some via ferrata training.

Arrival

From Ljubljana through Tacen to Vikrče.

Public transport: With city bus nr. 15 to Medno, from where we head over a hanging bridge over river Sava under Grmada.

Approach

From guesthouse Kovač in Vikrče about 100 meters down the road towards Tacen and turn left at the water sink. Marked path leads us in a few minutes to Mali Turnc, where via ferrata begins.

Exit

Either by Westrova route back down from the end of via ferrata, or continue to the summit of Grmada and then back down to Vikrče on Kovačeva route (45 min).

Worth to visit Grmada, highest peak, and Šmarna gora with a very nice view on Ljubljana.
