Characteristics

The gorge path is equipped with many handles and holding options, secured rock steps and leads idyllically to the Pfaffenstein. Most people choose the closer route through the Eye of the Bottleneck or the easy normal route for the climb, so this route is probably much less frequented and worth it.

Arrival

From Königstein in Saxon Switzerland we continue to Pfaffendorf. A parking space is available at the “Pfaffenstein” guesthouse (2.3 km).

Boarding

From the parking lot uphill along the road to the edge of the forest (green dot). The path through the bottleneck now leads up the mountain to the left, while two further climbs continue to the right. Therefore keep right along the edge of the forest. After about 600 m (approx. 10 minutes) you will reach an intersection. Turn left there and after another 10 minutes follow the paved path up to the Klammweg.

Exit

Return on the same route, or via the normal route, or from the other side of the bottleneck (160 meters in altitude, 20 minutes).
