Characteristics

Although it does not seem at first glance, this traverse via ferrata is quite demanding.

If the pas ferrat del Turó del Marqués was already sporty, the two new added sections that make up the new via ferrata of the Cinglera del Resistent have just made it one of the most sporty Catalan routes.

The beginning is already demanding. The first new section requires strength in arms. In spite of being all of it in flaqueo it is equipped only with pegs, some very small. If we do not use the life wire at any time we will not notice the difficulty.

Arrival

We can reach Castellbell i el Vilar with the F.G.C. from Plaça Espanya in little more than an hour.

By car via the C-55, the C-58 or the C-16 toll freeway. We will park in Colònia Burés there is enough space in Plaça Lluis Companys.

Approach

The approach to the via ferrata is very well indicated with signs with Catalan flags and green dots.

From Colònia Burés we cross the medieval bridge -pont Vell- and then we cross under the FGC bridge. Then we continue to the right to cross under the bridge of the C-55.

Once we cross the bridge we take the ascending path to the top of Turó del Marqués, heading east. Any road that is not uphill either to the right or to the left is the wrong way, although as we have said we will find good indications. We will arrive at the foot of the wall, on the right hand side we will see a metal staircase, which we leave for the return. To the left we follow the green paint marks. Bordering the cliff and in less than 5 minutes we will find the beginning of the ferrata.

Exit

If we do the last rappel (40m. rope) we return along the base of the cliff to the beginning of the via ferrata. We repeat the approach route to the car.

If we finish the via ferrata at the top we follow a path that gradually moves away from the cliff and leads us to the metal ladder that we have seen in the approach. It is indicated. Once we overcome the ladder we repeat the way of the outward journey.

Interesting facts

For the exit of this first section we will find the first clamps that will help us to overcome a couple of blocks that although easy give some respect for the fragility they appear. We arrive for the first time at the top of the cliff, we can prepare the first rappel of the three possible of the route (all can be done with a rope of 40 meters) that will take us to the beginning of the second part, the original of the Turó del Marqués. If we want we can leave the ferrata and return on foot either before or after the rappel.

The second part is the already known, a succession of three short but intense descents. We continue upwards to connect with a flank that comes from the right, a new easy alternative entrance to this second section. Optionally we can climb 10 meters more to the top of the cliff. If we follow the flank to the left, equipped almost entirely with pegs, we will arrive at a spectacular corner that hangs over the forest with views of Montserrat. This is the entrance to the third section.

In the third section appears the bulk of the difficulty. In an area of flanking between blocks we can mount an overhanging rappel to find the base of the wall where the collapsed roof of 7 clamps awaits us. A K6 that is certainly not for everyone.

We decided to continue along the ledge and make the last rappel, the third, right at the end of the via ferrata. Once at the foot of the route we went back to investigate the Roof and after evaluating it with the alternative of the pendular ladder we left it for another time. We decided to climb the also demanding K5 overhangs in the final part, which were our exit from the route.

One of the virtues of the Cinglera del Resistent is that it takes full advantage of the 20/25 meters of wall. A route that, being almost all in slack, has multiple options and if one part is too difficult we can investigate the next or even repeat a previous one easily.

It is a perfect route to test yourself since the Techo star overhang, is surely the most sporty section of the Catalan ferratas.

In short, the outfitters set the bar very high, a new route that will force us to give our best to complete it. The route doesn't seem that hard, but it is a little beast, you are warned!
