Kleinbärenzinne - Klettersteig (variant E) - A/B
Predicting whether..
Characteristics
Short, via ferrata practice hut in a great high alpine landscape. The via ferrata leads in two very different variants to the small bear pinnacle (also called "Climbär'n Zinne"), a pre-summit of the Puitkogel. While the easy variant ("family via ferrata") is also very suitable for beginners and children, the difficult variant ("sport via ferrata") is reserved for very good via ferrata climbers.
Arrival
On the A12 to the Imst / Pitztal exit and on through the Pitztal to the parking lot of the Rüsselsheimer Hütte shortly after Weißwald.
By public transport: by train to Imst-Pitztal and by bus to Plangeross.
Approach
Ascend from Pitztal on path 911A to Rüsselsheimer Hütte and turn right in front of the hut (signpost). Follow the short descending path for about twenty minutes to the entrance (rock marked "Klettersteig Kleinbärenzinne") at 2360 m.
Exit
From the exit, follow the red and white marked descent via ferrata (rock marked "Rundweg RH Hütte", max. A/B, partly walking area) to the ascent path and descend via the Rüsselsheimer Hütte to the starting point.
Interesting facts
Due to the northern exposure of the partially overhanging rock face, the tour is already quite shady from August and is accordingly long damp.
In the early morning you have a good chance of seeing ibex.
The tour can be combined well with a climb on Hohe Geige (B, 2).
