Characteristics

An extremely challenging via ferrata which is very airy and leads through rocky towers to the north peak of Resegone. Almost 1,500 meters of chains were used to secure the ferrata. A quality climbing experience guaranteed. It is known as one of the hardest ferratas in Italy. The ferrata has no marked escape routes so you will have to climb the whole ferrata. It is not recommended to go there when it's wet. The first part is very easy and who has a slightest problem or does not feel comfortable, should leave the ferrata quickly, because the more challenging and more exposed part will come shortly after. There is also the only possibility of retreating along the unmarked and unsecured path towards the left. Chimney outlets are challenging and require some experience. There are many loose stones along the whole length, so be careful.

Arrival

Turn from Lecco to the Bergbahn. The path to "Funivia" is partially marked. We recommend to enter the "Prealpi" road to the navigation. Parking fee is 2€.

Approach

From the car park up either by cable car (one way 6€, both weekdays 9€ - weekends and holidays 10€) or climb the gamma 1 ferrata to get up.

Then from the cable car station take the asphalt rode downhill to the junction (5min) and take the road (Sentiero) 5: Piani d'Erna to the junction 1: Malnago - Rifuguo Azzoni then left and continue to the start of the Gamma2 Ferrata (40min).

The start of the ferrata is a bit hidden and besides the sign of ferata it is not well marked. After turning off the main road to the left and after about 20m at the first "junction" to the right about 30m away - look among the rocks. The secured path begins after the first rocks.

Exit

After reaching the top of Dente continue and after about 7 minutes of descent you reach the junction. Here either go left back to the cable car (1:00) or to the right to the cross (00:25) to the top of Resegone di Leco where there is also the Rifugio Luigi Azzoni hut and an emergency bivouac. From the summit go right under the hut on Route 1: Malnago - Rifuguo Azzoni either up to the car park (2:00) or continue to the cable car on Route 5: Piani d'Erna (1:30).

From the cross you can also use the short ferrata De Franco Silvano which at the end joins the road 1: Malnago - Rifuguo Azzoni and continue as above. This variant is about 10min longer.

Interesting facts

- The cable car is in operation (except for extraordinary events) all year round.

- The Gamma duo can be combined with the Gamma uno route to make a beautiful and challenging trip. However a minimum of 10 hours is required.
