Characteristics

One of the hardest via ferratas in Slovenia, parallel to easier (and older) Ferata Renke 1. Only for experienced climbers and via ferrata fans!

Arrival

By car from Litije or Zagorje ob Savi to the village of Renke, where we can park in the parking lot by the river Sava - next to the suspension bridge.

Approach

First, we have to cross the pedestrian suspension bridge, which is in a very bad condition and officially closed - but there is no other way to cross the Sava River. When you come to the railway track, run along it for about 50 meters to the left. There you can already see green triangles, special signs that will take you to the start of the via ferrata. New, harder ferrata Renke 2 is on the right side (left is easier Renke 1).

Exit

Through the normal descent path, which is, however, sometimes difficult to see.

Points of Interest

The fastest animal on the planet - the peregrine falcon - nests near the via ferrata. Watch out for the snakes at the top of the via ferrata!
