Characteristics

Short via ferrata - just below the Erfurter Hütte - which was built especially for families and beginners. The via ferrata on the edge of a cow pasture runs unspectacularly over a short rock step and you get out in a meadow near the Erfurter hut. Not interesting as an independent ferrata destination, but if you are looking for a short, easy via ferrata at the mountain station to pass the time or practice, you are in the right place!

Arrival

On the A12 to Wiesing and further on the B181 up to Achensee to Maurach - park right at the Rofan cable car.

Public transport: by train to Jenbach and the Achenseebahn (cog railway) to Maurach. Walk to the valley station of the Rofan cable car and take the cable car to the mountain station.

Approach

From the mountain station turn left on path 413 (Enzianweg) in the direction of Durrakreuz / Dalfazalm. After a few minutes you descend steeply on the edge of the ski slope in a zigzag (pasture). Where the slope / meadow becomes a little flatter, cross over to the left on the meadow (small hut) to the edge of the forest and climb there briefly to the entrance on the small rock wall.

Exit

From the via ferrata exit in the forest straight on to a meadow and there to the right to the already visible Erfurt hut (mountain station).

Interesting facts

The via ferrata is not recommended in wet and snowy conditions.
