Anton Renk Klettersteig - D/E
Predicting whether..
Characteristics
The impressive Anton Renk via ferrata between the waterfalls of the same name was opened in May 2007. Numerous iron clips have been worked into the partly overhanging rock by the builders Florian Schranz and Bruno Netzer. One gets so close to the roaring floods in sections that, in the case of unfavorable wind conditions, the entry is a humid, joyful pleasure.
Arrival
On the A12 to the Oberinntal junction, through the Landeck tunnel and on the B180 to Ried im Oberinntal. Park your car at the valley station of the cable car. Ascent with the mountain railways to the Sattelklause.
Public transport: by train to Landeck and by bus to Ried im Oberinntal - cable car.
Approach
From the Sattelklause station past the Fendler Alpe (1970 m) to the Zirmesköpfle. Further into the Fissjochboden and from there on an old but newly marked Kuhsteig down to the Stalanzer Bach. Ascend along the stream (bridges) to the entrance to the right of the main waterfalls. Alternative boarding of Fendels (3 hours) or Ried (3 - 3,5 hours) is possible.
Exit
From the exit northeast - partly on “roaring blocks”, under which the water can be heard - cross to the Anton-Renk-Hütte and descend on the marked path back to the Zirmesköpfle and further to the mountain station.
Interesting facts
Attention: If there are still ice remains from the winter at the top of the waterfalls, there is a risk of ice striking (do not go directly under the falls)! The cable cars are in operation from mid-May to mid-October (only Thursdays and Sundays in the off-season).
The last D/E overhang can be avoided on the right on a short, easy variant (C) (see topo)!
