Characteristics
Very well done via ferrata on the rocks around the Simms waterfall. The ferrata comprises three parts with different difficulties. You are always above the roaring Höhenbach.
Arrival
From Reutte, or from the Inn Valley, over the Hantenjoch or from the Bregenzerwald via the Hochtannberg into the Lech Valley to Holzgau. Park in the village by the bridge to the north and still in the village on the marked parking lots.
Approach
From Holzgau you follow the path along the Höhenbach in the direction of Cafe Uta (Rossgumpenalm). After a bridge there is a steep passage (you can already see the Simms waterfall) at the end of which is the entrance. To the right of the street is the so-called bear cave, where you will find the backpack depot, the ropes course and a short practice via ferrata (B).
Exit
From the bear's cave (entry and exit of the via ferrata), it is best to follow the road into the valley to Cafe Uta, where the path branches off to the right to the large suspension bridge (which you should take a look at if you are already in the area). A path leads from the bridge down to the Höhenbach valley, which you follow out of the valley to the parking lot. Alternatively, you can descend from the suspension bridge westwards across meadows near Gföll to the church in Holzgau (only slightly longer than the steep descent from the suspension bridge into the Höhenbach valley). Anyone who already knows the suspension bridge can simply descend to the parking lot on the approach path.
Interesting facts>
A very impressive via ferrata adventure, which can be combined very well with a visit to the 200 m long suspension bridge!
The via ferrata is closed from October 11th to May 15th due to the risk of avalanches! The easiest option has some B/C passages - pure A and B via ferrata climbers may be a little overwhelmed. The via ferrata is not a problem for children and teenagers with climbing skills.
