Characteristics

Scenic, well-secured path leading in the northern wall of Mount Mangart with panoramic and distant views. The road ends at the border ridge of Italy - Slovenia.

Arrival

by car: Take the Salzburg - Villach - Tarvisio motorway. From where you drive in the direction of SLO (Slovenia) - Bovec. Behind the border crossing at Predilské sedlo (Italy - Slovenia border) is a crossroads in front of a new road bridge. Here to the left in the direction of MANGART. After a few kilometers, the mountain (toll) road begins, which takes you to the marked parking lot. Alternatively, you can drive to Mangarské sedlo (where the road makes a one-way loop), but beware - there is an official ban on entry. The exit fee is 5 EUR / car.

Approach

From the official car park or from the road loop in Mangartsko sedlo to Forcella Mangart. From here, follow the marked hiking trail in the direction of "Via Italiana" - or "Bivouac Nogarra" - or "Laghi Fusine". From the border saddle, descend in the direction of Bivouac Nogarra. You can recognize the location of the bivouac by the improvised heliport on the rock block above the bivouac. It is possible to traverse to the wall (where the ferrata starts), or descend to the bivouac and from there head to the wall (marked).

Exit

At the end of the road, join the hiking trail and descend towards the mountain road. We recommend a stop at the mountain hut "Koča na Mangartskem sedlu".
