Characteristics

Short via ferrata around a big waterfall. Well equipped, with some metal and wooden bridges/platforms. The tyrolean bridge at the top of the waterfall is the highlight!

Arrival

If possible, follow the road to Bodenberge (Private Alp street, CHF 20.- (2024), pay at the kiosk at the train station in Erstfeld), all the way to the end of the road.

In case the road is closed (it happened to us on 14/09/2025 due to danger of rockslides), take the Little cable car Hofstetten-Wilerli (can take max. 3 people at a time, 6CHF one way, 10CHF both ways). This adds almost 1h30 to the way up and 1h30 to the way down.

Approach

Follow the marked path to Kröntenhütte until you see a big waterfall on your left side (see pictures attached). When you're on the trail below the waterfall, keep following the marked path to Kröntenhütte around a big hill. On the top of that hill, you will go left at the wooden sign "klettersteig).

Descent

Just follow the way down to Ersfeld (Follow the path to Wilerli in case you take the cable car).

Points of interest

Take time to look at the view. It is breathtaking!
