Characteristics

The via ferrata was initially named "Salewa-Klettersteig" and was renamed "Edelrid-Klettersteig" during the renovation in 2021. It is a via ferrata that is also highly suitable for beginners and is divided into 3 sections. If you turn right after the first part, you will reach the summit and can take a rest there while enjoying the panorama. On the left, the second part often leads directly down the mountain. As of July 2023, the third part is not yet secured and remains closed for public use.

Arrival

Exit to Gruntensee, then you drive to the town of Oberjoch, where you can park at the paid parking lot at the Iselerbahn cable car.Drive about 200m further, then you will find a free parking lot on the left side at the Widhagbahn. (You can see at the Parking-coordinates)

Approach

From the paid parking lot to the top station of the Iselerbahn cable car (if you use the cable car you will save approx. 1 hour). From the cable car to the normal to the top of the Isler. At the information board, turn left in the direction of ferrata.If the Iselerbahn is closed (completely closed in 2023 due to renovation), you can walk or take the Widhagbahn from the free parking lot. Once at the top, you walk around the reservoir and continue towards the mountain station of the Iselerbahn. Then follow the ridge towards the summit. On the left side, the via ferrata branches off (well signposted).

Interesting facts

• For reasons of nature conservation law, the Edelrid Klettersteig is only open from the beginning/mid-June (depending on snow conditions) to mid-October (current information at: http://www.bergbahnen-hindelang-oberjoch.de)
