Characteristics
The Monte Roen stands exactly between the Dolomites and the Brenta Mountains, high above the Adige Valley. The plateau-like summit offers one of the most impressive views in South Tyrol! On the east side, a not too difficult ferrata leads up to the summit ridge, which can be easily climbed during a hike or bike tour.
Arrival
On the A22 motorway to Bozen, then on the expressway in the direction of Merano to the Eppan exit. Through Appiano and before Kaltern left on the SS42 up to the Mendel Pass. On the pass left to the Roen car park at the chair lift.
Approach
From the top station of the chairlift (it takes 45 minutes to get there), follow path no. 500 to Malga Roen, then left on the forest path to the Überetscher hut. The path branches off directly at the hut - to the foot of the wall in a few minutes.
Exit
Same as approach.
Interesting facts
Possible combination with Gamssteig - but both can get tricky when it is wet and snowy.
