Characteristics
Postalmklamm (Postalm Gorge) is a very popular Austrian via ferrata, especially because of its distinctness and diversity. You go through a defile where you have about 20 meters of depth, crossing, passing over different types of bridges and even skipping from one side to another. After finishing the canyon route (difficulty C) and climbing up alongside the Wiesler waterfall, you hike a short ways through the forest to the final part of the ferrata, which has two possibilities: a difficulty D climb or a demanding completely overhanging traverse of difficulty F.
There are two parking options: either park at the entrance or at the end of the via ferrata.
Arrival
From highway A1 towards Wolfgangsee and Bad Ischl. In Weißenbach turn to Postalm. After paying the toll, continue to the car park at the via ferrata, or go upstairs where you can also park
Approach
From the lower car park follow the pointer to the ferrata
Descent
Downhill the road to the car park or the shortest forest path.
Point of interest
A toll booth on the road charges €17 for entry (2024).
- Several types of cable bridges
- possibility to swim in the woods and refresh yourself
