Characteristics

The Porze (Cima Palombino, 2599m) is located on the border ridge between Austria and Italy and on its summit there are two charming and even quite easy via ferratas, which are suitable for crossing and also touch the Carnic high trail. This area is also very interesting in terms of war history. The two secured paths can be walked in both directions and are marked. However, crossing from east to west is recommended. The east climb has more via ferratas and runs over a bias binding in an impressive wall on Italian territory. The west rise has some exposed spots.

Arrival

In Obertilliach (Tyrolean Gailtal) turn south at an inconspicuous junction. First downhill, then uphill into the valley of the Dorfer Bach (Obertilliacher Tal) and park at the Klapfsee (1680 m). On weekends you can continue on the good gravel road to the Porzehütte (1942 m).

Approach

From the Porzehütte on the wide path to the Tilliacher Joch (Passo Dignas, 2094m, state border). Then in Italian territory on path no. 172 to the via ferrata east.

Exit

Via one of the marked via ferratas.

Interesting facts

This crossing can also be done in the course of the Carnic High Trail.
