Characteristics

The described ferrata was build in 2019 and is categorized as a very demanding mountain trail, and for climbing it is mandatory to use a via ferrata set and helmet. In the initial part, which reaches difficulty level C, an overhang requires some strength in the hands. The via ferrata is 450 meters long and has a height difference of 240 meters.

Arrival

From Razdrto we take the fast road to Nova Gorica or vice versa and take the Vipava exit. Follow the road to Vipava and Gradišče. In the village of Gradišče we see the first mountain signposts, which we follow to the larger parking lot near Camp Tura above the village of Gradišče.

Approach

From the parking lot, we turn at the information boards towards Gradiška Tura and Abram. At first, a relatively wide path leads us through the forest and soon leads us to a crossroads on a smaller clearing. Here the road for Sv. Nikolaj branches off and we continue to the left towards Gradiška Tura.

From the crossroads, the path quickly leads us to the scree and then turns right. We continue along the marked path and continue to follow the signs for Gradiška Tura. Along the way, we will also see signs indicating the climbing directions. The trail then begins to climb a little steeper and from time to time beautiful views of the Vipava Valley begin to open. The path that runs here by the bushes and through a low forest leads us to the next marked intersection where the Furlanova pot to Gradiška Tura branches off to the left.

We continue to the right, where signposts for Gradiška Tura follow us along the Otmar trail (Otmarjeva pot). The path then follows a slightly steeper slope where we get some help from a steel cable. Then, you reach the scenic Oltar.

From the Oltar we continue on a steep path that is secured by steel or wedges in places, and soon we are again at a crossroads. This time, the usual easier way to Gradiška Tura turns off to the left, and we turn right towards Otmar trail (Otmarjeva pot). After a short crossing, the trail then brings us under a wall where the beginning of a via ferrata begins.

Points of interest

It is recommended to join 2 via ferratas (Furlanova pot and Otmarjeva pot) in a round trip, starting with Furlanova pot and from its top crossing (slight descent - see topo) towards the start of Otmarjeva pot.
