Characteristics
The Neuerburger Klettersteig is a new circular via ferrata around the town of Neuerburg in the Eifel region of Germany. It links six climbing passages embedded in a walking loop, combining existing hiking trails with short climbing sections on rock formations near the town.
Equipment (helmet/harness/klettersteig set) can be rented locally at the Tourist Info starting late March 2026.
Arrival
Park nearby (usual town parking), then start directly from the marketplace where the route begins.
Approach
1 min from the marktplatz.
Descent
1 min from the marktplatz.
Points of interest
The via ferrata is integrated into a trail network and acts as both hike and climbing experience.
There are six distinct climbing passages at sites such as the Beilsturm, the former railway tunnel, near waterfalls of the Enz river, the town coat of arms rock, and finishing above the castle.
Sections can be bypassed on foot, so hikers and climbers can share the route together.
This setup makes it appealing for families, mixed-ability groups, and people who want a climbing-inspired trail rather than a long, exposed alpine line.
