Characteristics

The via ferrata is located at the NRocks Outdoor Adventures Center. The center is located at: 141 Nelson Gap Road, Circleville, WV (Google finds it). The via ferrata can be climbed by 1-14 people, but only with children aged 13 and over. “Unfortunately/thank heavens” climbing is only possible with a guide and equipment rented on site. The price for the climb and equipment ranges from $80-115, and the night climb costs $150. Advance reservation is required - https://www.nrocks.com.

The via ferrata is located in a forested area and overcomes two rocky "ridges" on its route. It starts at the southern end of the western ridge and leads up to the ridge. In the middle of this section there is a first escape option. From the ridge you have a beautiful view of the opposite ridge. After another climb on the other side of the ridge, a suspension bridge connecting both ridges becomes visible. The via ferrata leads to the starting point of the suspension bridge, where there is also a second escape route. The suspension bridge is 60 meters long and is at a height of 45 meters. The via ferrata continues over the second ridge and continues along its eastern side. Part of the route offers the opportunity to climb to the top of Judy Rock (938 m above sea level), but this part can be skipped and one can walk along the ridge to the end, where the descent path begins.

Arrival

From Washington, take Highway 181 (southwest), in Harrisonburg turn onto US 33 (west), pass Franklin and continue (approximately 20 minutes), then turn onto WV 28.

Boarding

Access to the via ferrata is from the outdoor adventure center via an easy forest path up the hill.

Exit

The descent initially takes place along a path between the rocks, then joins a forest path that leads to the rocks.
