Update information

Characteristics

The Jaufenspitz is the northeastern foothill of the Sarntal Alps, offers a wide all-round view and is easily doable from the Jaufenpass as a short half-day tour. This recommended tour is more of a hike than a via ferrata.

Arrival

Park from Sterzing or Meran on the SS44 to the Jaufenpass and at the Edelweißhütte directly on the pass.

Approach

From the parking lot follow path no. 17 (always marked red-white-red) over a small meadow hill and a subsequent valley to the beginning of the northwest ridge. To the left of the ridge, the path becomes steeper and leads over a short insured area (A) to a grassy back. On the broad ridge you climb up to a striking Steinmann.

Exit

Back on the ascent path.

Interesting facts

Delicate in wet and snowy conditions.
