Characteristics

Via ferata Große Kinigat is a relatively difficult sport ferrata in Austria, and should not be underestimated. There are a lot of passages of difficulty D. Cramps are far from each other, and all the strength is needed.

Arrival

Lienz - Sillian - left at Tiroler Gailtal - Kartitsch. Drive through the city and turn right before the sawmill. From the sawmill there is a road towards Erschbaumertal which leads to the parking lot.

Approach

From the car park in Erschbaumertal goes path to the Filmoor-Standschützen Hütte. When you see Tascharrhütte, a green area in Hochtal will appear in front of you. In the middle is a rock garden. From there, take the red path which will lead you to the start of the ferrata.

Exit

From the summit, walk down a bit and take a steep left across the ramp (A to B) to the rode. Turn to Hintersattel (From here it is a short walk to Filmoor Standschützen Hütte) and from there to the left to Tscharrtal until you get to the approach path.
