Predicting whether..
Characteristics
Via Ferrrata di Giorré is located on a cliff about 4 miles south from Sassari, in the north of Sardinia. The nearest town is Cargeghe.
It leads along the high rock ledge surrounding the plateau of Cargeghe. This ledge is sometimes 5 meters wide, but sometimes only a few centimeters. It takes about 3 hours and is medium-heavy, with spectacular views on the rocks and the surroundings, which characterizes the inrland of northern Sardinia.
The whole route is about 2.5km, but only about 600 are most difficult. Unsecured passages are not difficult but still require a safe and secure step. The heaviest passages are at the start. According to Corrado, this is not a classic Ferrata, but a secure climbing. Secured passages alternate with free terrain. There are several exit routes in case of emergency.
Arrival
On the SS 131, exit "Cargeghe-Muros" at km 201. After 2.5 km you will get to Muros, from there to the left and arrive to Carghege. Walk through the city on the main road (Via Brigata Sassari) and continue to SP3 about 700 m until you turn right (km 16; 150 - note Magól-Giorré). After 150m turn left into Magola valley to the parking lot (about 700m from SP3). There is also an information sign for the via ferrata.
Approach
Follow the marked trail in the northeast direction. After 200 m turn left (you would reach the end of the ferrata on the right), you will soon reach the Ferrata (10 minutes from the car park).
