Characteristics

Very vertical, this via ferrata ends with a slightly sloping pitch and few clamps, following the style of the Valencian ferratas. There are two aspects to take into account when facing this via ferrata, the distances between the clamps and the suffocating heat. The distance between clamps at some points will force us either to pull the cable or hold to the wall itself. Taking into account the verticality at some points will put us to the test.

In summer it is not recommended to do it in the afternoon because of the heat. The west face orientation makes it touch the sun a lot. To give an example of the heat, the plastic that covers the life cable seems to melt, it is even difficult to make the carabiners run, as they get stuck. So if you go in summer in the morning, it is much better.

The route is very enjoyable despite being short, has some complicated steps for those of us who are not very used to hold the wall, especially the overhanging end.

It is a good direct and sporty ferrata with the final option to dip in the river, which during hot days you'll appreciate.

Arrival

Leaving Xàtiva on the CV-6101 towards Genovés, a little before entering the town and after a traffic circle we will find signs to Alboi and urbanizations, on the right hand side. We enter by the asphalt road that is sometimes very narrow. In the vicinity of Alboi we have to look for the signs to the Chopada, a recreational area with a bar near the river that we will find a little beyond the train station. We continue straight on along the road, between summer houses. We can park right on the esplanade overlooking the Black Cave and before starting the descent that leads us to cross the river to the Old House of Light. If we look back to the right we can see the Aventador wall.

Approach

We continue on foot along a path parallel to the one we have taken to come by car, but this slightly uphill and more stony. Soon we will reach a PR indicator that diverts us to the right and goes up a hill. As a reference we have a power line that we will follow and already down the train tracks (not very visible) down to the right. Every time we are closer to the wall, we can leave the PR and go to it by a decomposed path. The ferrata runs along the highest part of l'Aventador that now should be in front of us.

Descent

After the ferrata we continue more or less along the ridge to the east. The trail descends in search of the slope in front of us, crosses a short scree to turn around and start the descent to the PR of the approach. The descent is easy but also quite steep.

Points of interest

As typical for the style in Spain/France the cable is only for security and should NOT be used for climbing, so of course also the difficulty level is based on that (different style like in the alps etc. where the cable has much more tension and counts as part of the ferrata)
