Characteristics

The historic Via Ferrata Monte Coppolo, which opened in 1971, was completely renovated and reopened to the public in 2022 after a long period of closure. Two new sections have been added to the renewed route, making this beautiful climb even more interesting. The secured path consists of three parts. The first part (maximum difficulty C) takes us to the first peak, Cros d Archil. From there it goes over a long ridge to the summit of Monte Luna, from where the second secured section (maximum difficulty B) begins. This leads us to a gap from which the last and most demanding section (maximum difficulty C/D) begins with a small overhang secured by sufficient climbing stirrups. Then it's just a short walk along the ridge to the summit of Monte Coppolo.

Arrival

Through the village of Lamon on the way to Le Ej to the Hotel Al Tajol.

Boarding

From the hotel along trail 821, about an hour to the trail junction. There you turn left towards Monte Coppolo and after 150 meters turn right to the entrance to the via ferrata.

Exit

From the summit, head north along the hiking trail that runs parallel to the via ferrata (some places are secured with ropes), back to the gap before the third part of the via ferrata. From the gap down and then to the left along a traverse below the rock face until we come back to the ascent path, which we take back to Le Ej.

Interesting facts

A beautiful tour over three peaks along the ridge with panoramic views at the southern foot of the Dolomites.
