Characteristics

The very popular Ferrata Drachenwand near Lake Mondsee, known for its long rope bridge. From the top 1060m you can see both the lake and the Dachstein massif. At the via ferraty it is necessary to take into account its length (560m) and the exposed rope bridge, which is not for beginners. Apart from that, the ferrata is not that hard and if you do not have dizziness, you be good to go :)

Arrival

Exit the A1 motorway to Mondsee (exit 264), then continue to the village St. Lorenz. In the village follow the signs to the Gasthof Drachenwand, which is the parking lot.

Approach

From the parking follow the "Drachenwand klettersteig" signs, which will lead you to small chapel, from where is a pointer directly to the via ferrata.

Exit

Exit is well marked. It leads along a forest road, which is partly secured by a rope. Exit takes 60-90 minutes.
