Characteristics

Ferrata Croce di Fai is a modern via ferrata that runs along the southeast wall directly to the viewpoint of Croce di Fai. Similar to Val del Ri, there are a lot of tricks installed here, there are no rope bridges, but as a finale there is an exposed rope ladder. The via ferrata has been ingeniously constructed over pillars and small turrets below, and there is a pedestrian arcade in front of the final wall. The steep end wall is once again equipped with countless crampons and a rope ladder, after which you can reach the top cross over a few steps. Overall a good via ferrata that can be combined with the Val del Ri via ferrata below (starting in Mezzolombardo) to make a big circuit. From the top you have a fantastic view of the Adige valley and the metropolis of Trento.

The via ferrata has one short spot of C difficulty, the rest are mostly around B/C difficulty.

Arrival

Prague > Munich > Innsbruck > Brenner > Mezzolombardo.

Onset

From the parking lot, first take the Sentiero Ardito Alberto path above the city towards the south, at the bench (signpost) turn right onto the steep path to the start of the via ferrata.

Descent

From the top of Croce di Fai, first follow the forest path, then follow the marked hiking trail (route 604) down to Bocca delle Scalace (1260 m), then right along route 603 descending below the rock walls to the starting point at Fai della Paganella.

Interesting facts

The possibility of connecting with the Val del Ri via ferrata and creating an all-day via ferrata tour.
