Characteristics

A true via ferrata Eldorado was created in the west-facing rock walls above Valbastico, which appeals primarily to beginners and pleasure climbers. In rounds (rings) you can climb various variants on the almost 200 m high rock wall. A total of approximately 1300 meters of steel cable (as of November 2018) were laid. Narrow bands, a great Tibet bridge and beautiful, partially exposed but never really demanding vertical passages alternate with stepped terrain where you can rest well. Away from the hustle and bustle of tourism around Lake Garda, you can spend a really nice via ferrata day in this great landscape, after which you end the day in the small bar or the Caverne Agriturismo Al Cucco in a cozy and very Italian way.

Arrival

From Trento on the SS349 or from Rovereto on the SS350 to Carbonare. From there on to Lastebaste and Valdastico. The via ferrata is in the San Pietro Valdastico district, the wall is clearly visible from the street.

Public transport: by bus from Rovereto or Trento to Valdastico.

Approach

From the church to the north for a short time, then follow the signs for ferrata - keep on the S1 path and you will come to a small chapel on the right. Go up behind it and you reach the right entrance under the Ponte Tibetano. There are other ways to get on, everything is well signposted.

Exit

Usually you go back to the top left on the S14, later on the S17. However, there are other descent options - see topo.
