Characteristics

The via ferrata is located in the Klettersteig Camp Dresden area and is the first on the left right at the entrance. Its difficulty usually ranges between B and C, there are a smaller number of metal steps on the route. It starts with an inclined section B, followed by a vertical climb C, a longer traverse and a shorter descent to the Nepal bridge where the via ferrata ends. Or before the end of the via ferrata, you can continue slightly upwards and cross the traverse to a bench with a book. From the via ferrata you can take the more difficult August der Starke (E), Gräfin Cosel (C), Harte Hunde (E) and König Carol (F) routes. The via ferrata is perfectly secured along its entire length with a slightly weaker rope than other routes.

Approach

The parking is under the highway right next to the fence of the area, it's only a few steps to the via ferrata.

Exit

Many different combinations of routes can be used for the descent - see topo, but it is automatically offered to cross the 44m long Nepalese bridge and then descend via the via ferrata Kleine Eidechse (B), which is located on the far right. You can also climb the via ferrata Gräfin Cosel (C) to the top, climb over the wall next to the mostly closed gate and then go right along Wurgwitzer Strasse on the way down to the main road where you turn right and after 350m you walk back to the Klettersteig Camp Dresden area.

Interesting facts

Klettersteig Camp Dresden was modernized and expanded in 2020. It is open from March to the end of October every Friday from 2 pm to sunset and also every last Saturday of the month from 2 pm to sunset. Closed in case of bad weather. If necessary, call +491723536047. Special dates are possible for groups of 10 or more people. Entrance fee 12.50 EUR, children/students 10 EUR (October 2021), if the weather is nice, there is a barbecue in the evening.
