Characteristics

The longest via ferrata in the Valencian Community has two well-differentiated sections, the initial one is familiar and the second is sporty and varied with a final surprise, a very athletic descent.

Arrival

45 minutes from Alicante on the AP-7 we enter Callosa de Segura from the north and the CV-900 regional road. On the ring road, we follow the signs to the Ahumada Cave recreational area, which has a large parking lot open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Be careful with what we leave in the car as thefts have been recorded here. As an alternative, it is recommended to park in the town or in the San Martin y San Roque parish cemetery - right next door - and approach the area on foot.

Approach

We go up towards the Polígono pyramid parallel to the dry torrent on the left. We will see PRC-54 signs and numerous vertical poles. We will find a first detour to the right crossing the torrent, it will be our return. We follow the path straight until we come to the detour to the right of the PRCV-54iii. Further up to the right we can go up directly to the K5 sports section and to the left we find the beginning of the family section.

Descent

We descend the path that tends to look for the torrent and goes down to the parking lot, undoing the final part of the approach.

Points of interest

As typical for the style in Spain/France the cable is only for security and should NOT be used for climbing, so of course also the difficulty level is based on that (different style like in the alps etc. where the cable has much more tension and counts as part of the ferrata)
