Characteristics

Via Ferrata Cable Baviera is a short ferrata in the middle of the island - near the village of Ayacata right next to the excellent climbing sector of La Librería.

It runs through the rock massif and it is therefore very interesting with numerous chimneys. The walls are well secured, but climbing, especially at the beginning, is difficult. But it's not as hard as Via Ferrata La Guagua. The rock is also fragile, so dropping something on the climber below you is quite easy. The upper part is followed by free climbing (difficulty 2+ UIAA). The end of the ferrata is located on a plateau.

Ferrata is opened all year round, except of heavy rain, because it is a natural channel. It is recommended to join the tour Roque Nublo or Ferrata Alquimia, otherwise it is an unnecessarily long journey from the coast "just" because of the short, although interesting, ferrata.

Arrival

Follow the GC60 road to Ayacata village. On the right side you will find a small parking lot for max. 2 cars.

Approach

Via Ferrata Baviera is about half kilometer from Ayaceta at the GC60 in the direction of Tejeda. Walk about 5 minutes west along the road and then turn right uphill through the almond trees and bushes for about another five minutes. Look for an inconspicuous rock passage - a large gap.

Exit

Finding a suitable descent is more difficult. Go up and then descend westward across the ridge of the massif back to Ayacata village. The terrain is otherwise impassable!

Another option is multiple abseiling in the same way. The anchor points are marked in orange. However, there is one anchor consisting of mailon attached to the main ferrata rope. Establishing abseiling requires a short diversion - come back to the ferrata rope. The first abseiling is far beyond the right edge. Apparently the "mistake in Metrix" is the last descent of only 20 meters but the penultimate 34m !! ATTENTION!! 60m rope will not be enough ... do not forget the safety knot and you have to climb the ferrata for the last few meters or make a temporary descent on those few meters!

Interesting facts

* Current info = http://www.ferratas.aventuracanarias.com/

Probably closed. It is necessary to secure it with its own rope, which would not be a problem to see the presence of climbing areas :)

* Since Gran Canaria's via ferrates are funded from private sources, they are not built and maintained to European standards.
