Characteristics

If you like gorge climbing, the via ferrata Via Farinetta will not disappoint you. It offers beautiful Swiss scenery, climbing beside the waterfalls, a rope bridge, quarry walls and much more. If you want to avoid the D paths, there is an escape route in about 2/3 of the way.

Arrival

Bern - following the A9 exit Saxon, via Rhone to Mazembroz and further on to Saillon. Park either on the main road near the statue or near the castle.

Approach

From the parking lot, follow the main road to Salentse-Bach. Then up the stream, until you get to the start of the ferrata.

Descent

Follow the marked path down to Burghügel. Don't go through the vineyards. The path goes next to the suspension bridge (Passerelle à Farinet) so it's possible to walk on it to enjoy the view, but don't cross the bridge - go down on one side of the george instead.

Points of interest

The Ferrata is named after a local legend Joseph-Samuel Farinet, a counterfeiter who gave his money to the poor.
