Characteristics

The via ferrata was built in 1994 by Toni Rosifka, former administrator of Simonyhütte cottage. The route begins with a steeper rise of C/D difficulty and passage of D difficulty. But then it continues only along the ridge. It's time-consuming, not recommended for beginners.

Arrival

Linz - Bad Ischl - Hallstatt - Winkl - in Winkl, turn right in front of the bridge and then take the second turn to the right again before a bridge. The road leads you to the cable car and the parking lot.

Approach

Take the forest route 601 to Wiesberghaus, then to Simonyhütte (approx. 5h). Then turn right to Wildkar. From the pointer to the left and straight to the start of the ferrata.

Exit

Along the red marked path down to the pointer, there to the right along route 651 descent through the Hohen Ochsenkogel to Hohen Trog. Here take the right along the route 650 and back to Wildkar. Furthermore, same way as approach.
