Characteristics

Via ferrata is fairly simple and well secured. It leads to the summit Vrh nad Skrbino 2054 m. Even in the summer months there are snow field. On the top there is a bench and beautiful views of the surroundings, especially on Lake Bohinj and Triglav. To make the hike in a day, you need to use the Vogel cable car. The cable car goes (summer 2018) 7:30 - 19:20 (make sure to check the current schedule).

Arrival

At Lake Bohinj there is a car park right next to the cable car. Take the cable car up where you can choose between several routes that lead to the ferrata.

Approach

The shortest route to the ferrata is 10km and takes 5 hours. The most difficult route is through the ridge and peaks of Orlova glava, Šija, Vogel (12km 6.5h). All roads connect in Konjsko sedlo, from where you can see the mountain peak. Here descend quite a lot of altitude meters and after a while go off the red marked route to the left. Then start to climb through rubble and around the snow field, which is there all year round. Then you get to the saddle Škrbina. Go east and after a while you will see a securing rope. Ferrata goes under the peak of Vrh nad Škrbino. Then just climb a rocky terrain to the top of the mountain.

Exit

You can go back the same way or choose from many other paths back to the cable car. Last departure 19:20 (Summer 2018).

Interesting facts

There is a bench at the top. From the ferrata and the top there is a beautiful view of Lake Bohinj and Triglav.
