Characteristics

Prestreljenik is a Slovenian ferrata, which with its difficulty does not attract demanding ferratists, but rather trekkers and mountain lovers. The whole ferrata is perfectly secured with fixed steel ropes, tacks and auxiliary cuts into the rock (preferably secured Slovenian ferrata). Ferrata starts right after the crossroads to the top of Prestreljenik. Right at the beginning of the ferrata, it is necessary to overcome the break and get from the east side to the south wall. In this wall, the ferrata leads through a traverse, with occasional descents below and ascents above, to Prestreljenik's window itself. There are only a few more exposed places where you climb the slopes perpendicularly up the crack. At the end of the ferrata at the P. window there is a notebook and a view through the window to the Italian side. From the window, the ferrata descends for a while to the rubble slope, where it ends.

Approach

From the car park in Bovec it is necessary to take the cable car (40 min) to the last station Postaja D (2200 m). Access to the ferrata from here leads to the right under the chairlift to Sedlo (2283 m). In front of the station in the saddle, the route turns left, along the southern slope, to the crossroads of footpaths. The lower footpath on the left is a walking route to Prestreljenik's window, the route continues straight up to Via Ferrata and to the top of Prestreljenik. After about 50 meters there is another crossroads where the route to Prestreljenik leads up the ridge and the road to the ferrata turns left. Just behind the crossroads, the ferrata begins.

Exit

It is necessary to descend from the window using fixed ropes to the rubble slope. Here, on the left, the pedestrian route leads under the wall of Prestreljenik to the window, and on the right, steeply down, there is a descent path to the cable car. After a while, a crossroads follows, where you can go left to the cable car or to the right to the top of Kanin. The return to the cable car then leads through the rubble field all the way down to the starting point at the cable car. Beware of the times of the last departures of the cable car! The last ride (summer 2019) is at 16:00.
