Update information

UPDATE - Ferrata is formally closed due to rockfall that destroyed part of the rope (it happened in 2021). As I heard, it is dangerous to go there. Despite of that some people go there. It is not recommended. My info is from end of Septemper 2023, as I know there are no plans to repear broken part of rope.

Still you can go from Tofana di Mezzo to Tofana di Dento - this part of ferrata is open.

Characteristics

The via ferrata is used as an interesting alternative to descent from Tofana di Mezzo (as opposed to the cable car). It starts at the top station of the cable car to Tofana di Mezzo, a short distance from the summit and continues to descend into the saddle between the middle and the rear of Tofana, from where it sets off to the very top of Tofana di Dentro. This is followed by a descent around the bivouac in the rock and further down the steep slope to the bottom station of the cable car. From there it is possible to continue with the ferrata Giuseppe Olivieri to the Pomedes hut and further to the Dibona hut, where usually people park.

Arrival

Cortina d'Ampezzo - headed for Passo Falzarego, where just before the saddle turn right on the forest road to the cottage Rifugio Dibona (last five kilometers leads along the gravel road).

Approach

The Punta Anna cable car or ferrata to Tofana di Mezzo, just above the station is the start of the ferrata (marked with an arrow). The boarding time is from the cable car.

Exit

From the lower station of the Giuseppe Olivieri cable car to Pomedes and further to Dibona (same as approach). The descent time is to the cable car.

Interesting facts

In combination with ferrata Punta Anna and Giuseppe Olivieri is a very demanding all-day tour, which will take 10-14 hours (depending on the physical condition of the climbers). It is therefore necessarily good weather without storms and plenty of water and food with you!
