Attention: This via ferrata is not yet open for inspection - expected opening in spring 2020!
The Piburg via ferrata is a small via ferrata on the west bank of Lake Piburg right in the town of Piburg. The entertaining ferrata crosses a small rock face and has a small rope bridge in the middle. For people with little climbing experience, this ferrata is ideal to experience the first rock / iron contact in the Ötztal. In the morning the Piburger (B/C), after successfully completing this mini-ferrata in the afternoon to the much longer Stuibenfall via ferrata (C) - that's how the initiators of the practice via ferrata thought.
Arrival
On the Inntal Autobahn to the Ötztal exit and then on the main road into the Ötztal to Ötz. In the village turn south to Piburg (Piburger See) and park in one of the paid parking lots at Piburger See.
Approach
From the parking lot on the forest path to the small fire station and behind it to the already visible rock wall.
Exit
From the exit on the path below the wall back to the forest path and on this to the parking lot.
Interesting facts
Use is limited to the hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from April to November.
The via ferrata is shady in the bush forest - after rains in spring or autumn it can be rather damp.
If you are already there, you should definitely take a look at the Piburger See - from the parking lot at the Hotel Seerose you walk about 5 minutes down to the lake (unfortunately you cannot see the lake from the via ferrata).
If you want to stop in Piburg, you should do so in the Hotel Seerose and GH Piburger See (are the landowners, have made the via ferrata construction possible)!
