Characteristics
The redeveloped Panoramasteig via ferrata is one of the best circular tours in the Lienz Dolomites. The tour is a beautiful ridge climb over six "peaks", at the end you descend via the Ari-Schübel-Steig to the Scharten-Schartl. The Ari-Schübel and Gebirgsjägersteig can of course also be used as independent climbs to the Große Sandspitze. The panoramic via ferrata begins under the Roter Turm, this exposed ridge climb is more for experienced walkers. Interesting facts
The route combination requires sufficient sure-footedness and fitness, beginners have to take the rope at some passages. The original ferratas were completed by Dipl. Ing. Alfred Thenius, the inventor of the hooks and clips of the same name, when he was over the age of 80 and renovated on behalf of the TVB.
