Characteristics

Mittagsloch Berchtesgadener Hochthron is a short via ferrata below Salzburg, spiced with a tunnel that leads to Stöhrhaus.

Arrival

Salzburg - Berchtesgaden - Marktschellenberg. At the church right across the stone bridge, after about 200m towards Ettenberg. Drive up to the parking lot (about 5km).

Approach

First follow the forest road no.466 to Scheibenkaser (approx. 1 3/4h.). Then to the right towards Almhütte, you will go under the southern wall of Hochthron - then there is a sign to the ferrata.

Exit

From the hut along the Stöhrweg no.417 to the cross road to Roßlandersteig. Follow the trail no.466 through Scheibenkaser back to Ettenberg (3h).
