Characteristics

Not very well-known ferrata Frohnleitner Band with difficulty D leading to the top of Rote Wand (1505 m). The ascent runs in an exciting route below the summit cross through the elongated Rote Wand. Initially, the via ferrata was poorly insured, then it was even dismantled and finally renovated again so at the moment it is in good condition. However when getting on and off you still have to climb a few meters unsecured in steep terrain!

Arrival

Kapfenberg - Frohnleiten - Tyrnau and drive to the Rote Wand parking.

Approach

From the parking lot about 300 m in the direction of Tyrnauer Alm. Here, turn sharply left onto the forest road. After about half an hour you will walk to the crossroads, turn right and you follow the signs to the ferrata.

Exit

Keep left at the summit and descend via the marked hiking trail to the Bucheben saddle and from there via the forest road back to the Rote Wand parking.
